GENERAL PLANNED GIFT POLICIES & PROCEDURES

I. Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation (d.b.a. ISDB Foundation) will involve itself only in recognized legal and approved forms of Planned Gifts which are authorized by the Internal Revenue Code and that are controlled by subsequent IRS regulations. Further, ISDB Foundation will not engage in doubtful arrangements which could jeopardize the donor's tax advantage of exempt status and financial stability of ISDB Foundation.
II. The Planned Giving effort will follow these guidelines with the understanding that the ISDB Foundation Board of Directors may recommend variations when in its best judgment, it is good for the donor and for ISDB Foundation.
III. In all gift arrangements the interest and wishes of the donor come before that of ISDB Foundation. Representatives of ISDB Foundation will assist donors in making gifts and will always urge the donor to seek professional financial and legal counsel for their own situation. Likewise, all agreements that involve an on-going responsibility on the part of ISDB Foundation will be reviewed and approved by its own legal counsel.
IV. Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation will not engage in any form of commissioned fundraising or the payment of finder's fees for Planned Gifts.
V. Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation will observe and respect the confidentiality of all donor negotiations and gift arrangements.
VI. Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation Board of Directors shall be responsible for the oversight, promotion, marketing and securing of Planned Gifts.
VII. Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation recognizes the uniquely individual and supportive partnership it has with the Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind (ISDB), a state agency. Therefore, the Foundation acknowledges its responsibilities under the Governing Policies & Procedures of the State Board of Education for accountability and cooperation between the two organizations.
Purpose: To provide a framework for the types and forms of gifts that will provide maximum benefit to the donor and to the Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation.
This overview addresses both current and planned gifts. The goal is to encourage support for the Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation without encumbering us with gifts that may generate costs or liabilities in excess of the benefit provided, or that are restricted in a manner not consistent with the purpose, goals or policies of ISDB Foundation.
