2009 ISDB Foundation Scholarship Winners Announced
GOODING, Idaho—The 2009 ISDB Foundation Scholarship winners were chosen in May through a competitive submission process. Each year the Foundation offers two scholarships in the amount of $500 each to be given to one blind/visually impaired student and one deaf/hearing-impaired student in the state of Idaho. Students are required to use the scholarship for a college or training program.
Our first 2009 winner was Ms. Jenny Sturman, who is a hearing-impaired student from Pocatello. She attended Pocatello High School, and intends on enrolling in the College of Southern Idaho in Fall 2009 to pursue a Veterinary Technician degree.
The second winner was Ms. Amy Stott, who is both a visual and hearing-impaired student from Meridian. She is a student of Mountain View High School, and wants to continue her higher education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
The Board would like to commend this year’s winners for their outstanding academic achievements and service to their community. All of the applications did an excellent job! The Foundation is proud to award these scholarships and wishes all applicants great success in their future endeavors.
The ISDB Foundation mission is to promote and maintain excellent and comprehensive educational opportunities for every deaf, hard of hearing, blind and visually impaired child from birth to 21 years of age in the State of Idaho. The funds raised are provided to assist with items such as learning aids for the classroom, hearing or sight equipment, scholarships, and many other items that generally benefit the education of these children.

Support ISDB Foundation with CoinStar
The ISDB Foundation has been enrolled in a program through Idaho Central Credit Union that gives us a percentage of all coins that are run through the CoinStar machines located in the Twin Falls and Burley branches of the Credit Union. If anyone has change to put through a machine, please use these so ISDB can benefit! Thank you for your support!
ISDB Foundation Search Engine
The ISDB Foundation recently launched its own Internet search engine to raise funds for all of its generous endeavors. Here's how it works: each time anyone searches using the ISDB Foundation search engine, it will raise money for the Foundation. It works just as any other web search engine available, such as Google or Yahoo. But now, every time you search, you will be helping a worthy cause! There are even tools available for download at this site to create a specialized toolbar for searching in your web browser. Please, use the search engine and then share it with your friends! The more people we can get searching on www.isdbfoundation.prodege.com, the more money can be raised. Send it to all your friends in your address book, and help us get the word out.
Contribute to help us fund projects
ISDB's primary source of funding is from state appropriations. The school must compete with other state agencies for limited funds from the Idaho Legislature. ISDB and its Outreach Offices assist more than 800 deaf, hard of hearing, blind and visually impaired students throughout the State of Idaho. Contributions to the ISDB Foundation fund a variety of special projects that help students to unlock the door to learning, including a variety of scholarships, books for the Braille Library, CCTV - Closed Circuit Television, Summer Camp, student activities, and much more.
